Corrugated cardboard manufacturing and cardboard box production in large quantities

WELCOME TO EMSBÜREN.
HOME OF THE SMART BOX!

Perhaps you already know that Packners is one of the most modern corrugated cardboard processors in the world. This was already true for the first location in Schüttorf. Fortunately, the signs have been pointing steadily toward growth ever since, so that by the end of 2023, the time had come to move to the brand-new Packners plant in Emsbüren. And our new location (3 km away from the old one as the crow flies) is impressive: production and logistics areas with a built-up area of approx. 40,000 m² have been created on a site covering a good 110,000 m².

Even though our machinery is still relatively new compared to the industry average, we are continuously investing in new equipment that is not only more efficient but also more versatile—not only doubling our production capacity for corrugated folding boxes but also expanding the range of possible products. It goes without saying that all production steps are fully automated. With the new plant, we now also offer corrugated cardboard made by Packners – thanks to the brand-new corrugated cardboard system, which now supplies our five production lines with single or double-wall corrugated cardboard in various designs just in time.

Incidentally, the investment volume for the new Packners plant amounts to more than €80 million. The high-bay warehouse, at almost 40 meters high, can be seen from afar. And the large-scale photovoltaic system with a peak output of 2.3 MW on the factory roof contributes significantly to our energy requirements.

Where it all began

Schüttorf

The success story of the smart box began in Schüttorf in 2010 with a high-performance plant for large quantities: by 2023, up to 30,000 transport and shipping cartons per hour were being produced on a single line here.

With two inline machines and a rotary die cutter, we produced enough volume here to send up to 60 semi-trucks a day from the yard. The high-bay warehouse was visible from afar at the A31/A30 motorway junction, and the conveyor bridge to our neighbor for just-in-time supply of corrugated cardboard sheets was a relevant argument for us.

Enough talk:

Take a look at the image video and hopefully you will be convinced that we are the right partner for you, whether you need folding, die-cut, or automatic cartons, even in large quantities.

Fly with us over and through our new factory: high-tech at its finest. Computers and robots and people with heart, mind, and empathy. And mountains of corrugated cardboard and corrugated cardboard boxes.

HOW TO GET TO EMSBÜREN …

These directions will guide you to the reserved visitor parking lot on site. Since we have literally built our new plant on a greenfield site, the official signage in the area may still be somewhat sparse. You can already find us on Google Maps, but despite any recommendations for idyllic country roads, you should use the Emsbüren exit from the A31.
P.S.: If your electric vehicle needs charging during your visit, we have a charging station available for you.

Take the Emsbüren exit on the A31 and follow the signs to the Emslandpark Ost industrial park, drive along Mendelstraße parallel to the highway, and then turn left onto Lise-Meitner-Straße. Banners at the side of the road will show you the way. You can find our factory on Google Maps.

Before you can drive onto our factory premises, you must first register digitally at www.LKWRUF.de/packners or scan the QR code on site.

The new Emslandpark-Ost industrial park is home to one of Europe’s most modern plants for the production and processing of corrugated cardboard. Until the end of 2023, our factory was located in nearby Schüttorf for many years, clearly visible directly on the highway—just so you’re not confused.

The construction site in fast motion

review

In fast motion (more precisely: 2.5 years in 1:20 minutes), our new plant in Emsbüren is growing skyward.

From the very first earthworks in September 2022, you will witness the creation of the new home of the “smart box.” Construction site cinema at its finest.
